The following case studies include the verification of the P-Y lateral analysis capabilities of the DeepFND software. The verification is accomplished through the use of experimental results of different pile configurations and site properties throughout the literature.
Case Study 1:
Japan, the Committee on Piles Subjected to Earthquake (1965)
The Committee on Piles Subjected to Earthquake (1965) [1] reported the results from testing a steel-pipe pile with a closed end that was jacked into the soil.
The pile has an overall length of 5.5m while the lateral loading was applied at a distance of 0.201m above ground line. The steel pipe section had a modulus of elasticity equal to E=200 GPa and a yielding stress equal to Fy=235Mpa.
The soil properties at the site in question along with the location of the water table, as well as the properties of the pipe section are illustrated in the following figure:

The P-Y results of the force applied at the head of the pile to the pile head lateral deflection and of the maximum bending moment for both the experimental results and the results obtained from the DeepFnd analysis are illustrated in the following figure:

Case study 2:
Mustang Island, cox et al (1974)
Cox et al. (1974) [2] lateral-load tests include two steel-pipe pile experimental configurations in sand located in Mustang island.
The pile has an overall length of 21.11m while the lateral loading was applied at a distance of 0.305 m above ground line. The steel pipe section had a modulus of elasticity equal to E=200 GPa and a yielding stress equal to Fy=235Mpa.
The soil properties at the site in question along with the location of the water table, as well as the properties of the pipe section are illustrated in the following figure:
