Back in the early 2000s, Dimitrios Konstantakos, our founder, faced a grueling reality. Completing a single deep excavation design took almost a full week. The process was a patchwork of manual earth pressure calculations for every construction stage, input into four different, unintegrated programs—some structural, others DOS-based. A minor change, like shifting a support location by one foot, meant starting over. Frustrated by inefficiency, Dimitrios envisioned a better way. That vision led to DeepEX, the software that revolutionized geotechnical design. Driven by his belief, Dimitrios sold his house and launched Deep Excavation LLC, debuting the concept at an ASCE GeoCongress conference.

The Landmark Center Redevelopment Project in Boston’s Fenway neighborhood presented significant challenges for GeoEngineers during Phase 3, which involved designing a 13-story mixed-use building with three levels of below-grade parking. Positioned tightly between the historic Landmark Center building and the MBTA Green Line, the project required precise temporary support of excavation (SOE) to safeguard adjacent structures.

In a landslide-prone zone in the Township of Langley, BC, TetrisGeo faced the challenge of designing a basal anchor micropile system to support a massive swimming pool. The project required a robust deep foundation to transfer the load effectively and stabilize the slope.

Using DeepFND, TetrisGeo selected the hollow bar R38 pile type, optimized pile lengths, and determined the capacity of single piles with precision. In San Diego, where urban expansion often meets challenging terrain, The Heights at Fashion Valley exemplifies innovative engineering. This ambitious project involved replacing commercial structures with seven-story residential buildings atop two levels of above-grade parking. The site, a narrow 750-foot-long strip bordered by Friars Road and a steep 1:1 slope, required a cutting-edge solution for soil stability.
